MEMBER SAFEGUARD

Establishment: The Ring of Kerry Golf Club was established in 1998 and designed by acclaimed golf course architect Eddie Hackett. Hackett utilized the natural landscape to create a challenging and picturesque 18-hole course.

Ring of Kerry Golf Club is privately owned and privately managed the leading golf management company Synergy Golf.

The Synergy Golf team took over the management and maintenance of the facility in late 2023 and since then the facility has only gone from strength to strength.

MEMBERSHIP

How long is the membership period?

Our membership year at Ring of Kerry runs from March 1st – February 28th except in a leap year!

How long do I have to renew my membership after it expires?

Any member whose fees remain outstanding after 31st March will have his or her membership suspended temporarily. If membership remains unpaid and without a payment plan in place, the Member will deem to have lapsed their membership and will have to reapply.

Can I pay monthly?

Yes, an easy payment plan facility is available to allow all members pay monthly. There is a 5% surcharge for this option.

What happens if I miss a payment?

We’re human too, we understand that from time to time things might happen that could lead to you missing a payment.

If this does happen, our systems will automatically try for the payment every few days until it can draw it down. If it fails in its attempts, you will be notified, and at this point it is important that you contact us directly.

If we do not hear from you, your access to membership is suspended automatically, this means that you will not be able to book golf, use your Golf Ireland handicap or access your club account balance.

What can I do if I am unable to play for a season due to injury or other personal circumstances?

In the event where you need time out from the Club, please contact a member of the senior management team who will discuss in confidence the options you have available to you.

I am looking to upgrade my membership. Can I do this?

This is no problem with requesting an upgrade to your membership, just inform the office by emailing guestservices@ringofkerrygolf.ie.

We will get back in touch with you to arrange the upgrade and put the necessary in place.

How does the club treat my personal details?

Member details are stored in line with GDPR & data protection guidelines.

PLAYING GOLF

Do I have to check in with the pro-shop before commencing play?

Yes, in all circumstances a member must notify the pro-shop before going out on the course and must have an allocated tee time.

Golf Course Etiquette And Safety

The club has prepared a short list of useful etiquette and safety guidelines that members must make themselves aware of prior to commencing play.

  • Please check-in at the Golf Reception before commencing play on the course or the practice facilities. It is important that we know where you are on the golf course for safety reasons.
  • Please retain your check-in receipt until you have completed your round.
  • Please keep trolleys off tee boxes, collars and approaches of greens.
  • Please do not bring trolleys inside ropes or cordoned off areas marked with painted lines
  • Please always replace your divots on the fairways and in the rough.
  • Please always rake bunkers after use & leave the rake in the middle of the bunker.
  • Repair your pitch mark and at least one other on all greens.
  • You are only permitted to play 1 ball at a time. Practice on the golf course is not permitted.
  • Please always avoid slow play. Slow play ruins the game for everyone and must be avoided. For tips on how to speed up, please see the member’s area of the website.
  • Appropriate clothing and golfing footwear to be worn at all times on the golf course. Metal spikes are strictly prohibited.
  • Golfers are requested not to hit there ball if they believe that a fellow golfer is in range or in danger. Please play golf in a safe manner and use the call ‘Fore’ if you believe that your ball may endanger a fellow golfer.
  • Please familiarise yourself with the dangers associated with walking on wet ground, steep slopes and the verges of lakes. Golfers are requested not to retrieve their balls from lakes due to the danger associated with deep water.
  • Golf is not permitted to take place if the ground is frozen or if there is snow cover. The course may be closed or play suspended due to inclement weather or unsuitable ground conditions. In this event managements’ decision must be final.

How far in advance can I book?

Booking for casual golf & competition golf opens on a Thursday at 7.15pm for the following Monday – Sunday.

Can I play golf by myself?

Yes, you can choose to book in yourself to play a full round or even just a few holes. On particularly busy days, it may be necessary for us to pair you up with other golfers.

Can I bring a guest during member competition times?

Member competition times are solely reserved for members. At the weekend, this is 7 day members only. Guest are only allowed access the course outside of these times.

How can I find out the course status/ if the course is closed?

Our course status information is updated daily on our telephone system. Call 01-8640400 and choose the relevant extension option where you will hear the details. If you are on the timesheet and there is a delay or closure, you will receive updates by SMS.

What happens when there is a frost delay?

All golfers on the timesheet will get an SMS first thing, notifying of the next inspection time and subsequent updates as necessary. Once the course opens, the timesheet will run in order from the first tee time that morning. Two tee starts may also be an option depending on how busy it is, and this would work on the same order basis.

How do I cancel my tee time and are there any penalties?

Golf outside of weekend competitions can be cancelled right up to the tee-time without any penalty. However, members must keep late cancellations to an absolute minimum.

For weekend or scheduled competitions, you must cancel before Wednesday at 12pm to avoid being charged the competition fee.

Can I use a buggy for members competitions?

The use of a buggy during members competitions is only available to those with an existing medical condition which adversely effects their ability to get around the golf course without one. Medical documentation must be submitted to confirm this. A discounted medical rate is also available.

How do I put myself forward for selection for an Interclub Team?

Watch out for updates on this in our Members Weekly Newsletter and in the golf shop. Teams typically begin preparations in the early part of the year.

Are there any major competitions for Bronze Members?

Yes, a Captain’s Prize and President’s Prize to Bronze Members is hosted by the respective officers for that year.

This event typically take place in the week leading up to the 7 day version of the event.

Are there Matchplay or Interclub Competitions for Bronze Members?

Match Play
Yes, there is a specific Singles Matchplay held within the Club for Bronze Members only. Bronze Members are illegible for the 7 Day Match Plays.

Interclub
All Bronze Members can put themselves forward for team selection and may be chosen by the team manager to represent the Club. If the match takes place at the weekend, there is no issue regarding course access in this instance.

I’m a Bronze Member who would like to play a game at the weekend. What rules apply?

You will not be eligible to play during any weekend competition times. If you wish to play outside of those times, a regular green fee will apply.

If accompanied by a 7 Day Member, you will not be eligible for the members guest rate.

FACILITES & OTHER

Is there WiFi in the clubhouse?

Yes, free WiFi is available to all who use the facilities.

Do you host events in the clubhouse?

Yes, our team are specialists in the area of event planning and love hosting all kinds of different functions & events.

What is the Club’s policy on mobile phones?

Mobile phones are allowed in the Clubhouse, however we ask you to limit its usage where possible. On the course they are allowed for the purpose of using a GPS golf app.

Are golf shoes permitted in the clubhouse?

Yes, provided all soil and grass has been cleaned.

What is the access code to the locker rooms?

3637 – changes to this are communicated through the Members Newsletter.

Do you have a club storage facility available?

We have a limited number of lockers available in our locker room, which can accommodate a golf bag and golf trolley. These are available to hire on an annual basis for €125. If you are interested in hiring one, please contact a member of the team at

What is the smoking & vaping policy in and around clubhouse?

St. Margaret’s clubhouse is a clean air environment. Smoking or vaping is only allowed immediately outside the clubhouse at the designated areas. Signs are clearly on display to indicate the location of these areas.

Are towels available in the Club?

Towels are not available at this time.

Can I bring non-members along to the Club?

Yes, our Clubhouse is open to the public. You are very welcome to bring along friends and family to enjoy the facilities. They can also avail of the guest rates if they would like to play some golf.

Are golf lessons available?

We are fortunate here at the Club to have a superb golf instructor in Zak Roullier. Zak can be contacted by emailing
